Changing the check in date
Libraries often close for holidays, bad weather, special staff meetings, etc. This can affect the circulation of items because items will not be checked in at the normal time, causing some items to become overdue. To avoid this problem, you can change the effective date on the Check In or Process Item screen. In the upper right of the screen there is a box labeled Effective Date. The current date is displayed by default. When the library reopens, you can change the effective date to the last open day and all materials turned in during that period will be credited for the correct day. After all items returned to the library during the closure have been checked in, you will need to change the effective date back to the current date.
When the check in is backdated, the background behind the text will be shaded in red and it will read Backdated ... Check In.
Alert messages
There are many alerts that can display upon checking in an item. These are generally alerts for which an action is needed. Alerts can be manually added to an item by staff or the system can automatically generate an alert, for example, when an item is changed to missing an then checked in, there will be an alert warning that the item previously was missing.
There are also messages at check in that alert staff that the item is on hold.
