Local Innovative Library Overrides of MeLCat Requests

Local Innovative library staff should not override a MeLCat request in order to check out the item to a local patron. Instead, Innovative library staff should cancel the MeLCat request before checking out the item to their local patron.

When a staff member at a local Innovative library overrides a MeLCat request, the request is not automatically cancelled or re-requested. The request stays on the item as a local hold until the item is returned from circulation. Then, at check-in, a message displays about the MeLCat request. The patron who made the MeLCat request has had to wait during the local circulation period.

If a staff member accidentally does an override, the MeLCat request can still be cancelled or transferred to another available copy.
